Clinical Psychologist

Hi, I’m Marianne. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children, young people and families. I help deliver Autism assessments at Now, Next & Then. Assessment for Autism and other neurodivergent conditions is a lot like detective work, it involves considering lots of possibilities, thinking about the evidence base and drawing from a broad range of perspectives. As a Clinical Psychologist, these are my specialties. I also have the benefit of over ten years experience, working with children and young people in various independent and mental health settings.

My background of working with children is from a broad base of experience. After training within a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and specialist paediatric service, I worked within various departments of Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital and then within NHS community health services (including with adults). I started working in private CAMHS practice in 2019 and I am still enjoying it to this day. Every day is different, and every client and piece of work offers something new to undertake or to learn. Emma and I started referring families to each other soon after lockdown so it is great to be able to now work more collaboratively.

Alongside my work with Now, Next & Then I have a busy private practice in Bristol and a large portion of my work involves working with neurodivergent children and their families. Besides psychological assessment and screening this work can involve one to one therapy, parenting advice, consultancy with schools and groups, so I fit well alongside the therapeutic model of Now, Next & Then. Similarly, maintaining high standards of ethics are really important to me.

Working with children offers lots of chances for me to be creative; I am not adverse to getting a bit of glitter on my hands at work! This extends to home life as well, where I paint and needle felt and have a constantly overflowing pile of arts, crafts and ideas that I would like to try. I am a big fan of yoga, which I fit around juggling all the usual logistics of a busy family life.

“Marianne is a colleague who I have always admired for her professional integrity and diligence. I am so pleased we have found a way for her to be part of our team in helping to deliver Autism assessments.”
